ORAL EXAM FORMAT
LCLT, LLM, LCMM and those MLC students who enrolled at university BEFORE 2007.
Do an oral exam with a lettore as part
of lettorato.
You MUST choose a news story taken from the English newspapers in the week before the exam, and bring an article on it taken from both a quality broadsheet newspaper and a popular tabloid newspaper for purposes of comparative discussion.

Bring the
newspaper articles themselves as well as a photocopy of them. Do NOT download
the articles from the internet.
OPTION 2 -- LITERATURE
L.C.L.T. and L.L.M. students (NOT M.L.C.) may instead choose one of the novels from the list below to read and comment on as preparation for their oral exam:

- The Secret Scriptures, Sebastian Barry
- Ordinary Thunderstorms, William Boyd
- The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Rachel Joyce
- Brooklyn, Colm Toìbin

- The Children’s Home, Charles Lambert
THOSE STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE THIS KIND OF EXAMINATION MUST BRING THE
NOVEL TO THE EXAM
MLC students enrolled AFTER 2007
Contact Prof.ssa Hillan or Prof.ssa Tucker to set a date for your oral exam. This exam will be based on a linguistic analysis of your written paper.
Bring proof of having passed II year lettorato (libretto giallo).
