Pudney passage #32
In an interview about terrorism // on the subject/topic ,
[the] French President Jacques Chirac said/declared his government would do
everything in its power// everything possible to face/address/deal with the
crisis and arrest those/the people responsible for the attacks that have taken
place in France in recent months/ in the past few months. He said/declared that
the police would carefully watch/monitor all suspects/people who are under suspicion.
“We must not lower our guard,” said Chirac, “neither in the big cities nor in
the villages/small towns which/that are more isolated and less protected. I
have ordered the government to watch the borders more efficiently/carefully.”
Furthermore/ In addition , the President praised the French people for not
panicking despite the attitude of the mass media// despite how the mass media
have portrayed the attacks. According to Chirac, the French media’s representation
of the attacks have been exaggerated – more so than in the press “of any other
country in the world, ever.”
