Since 1974 the so-called “green line” has cut/divided
Cyprus – including the capital – in two, from east to west. The two Cypriot communities
began/started clashing / to clash last Sunday / have been clashing since Last
Sunday. Over / More than 50 people have been wounded/ injured in the fighting
up to now. Yesterday a 26-year-old Greek Cypriot was killed on the “green line.”
Tensions continue to rise / are still rising.
